Committees

GLA committees are compiled of volunteer homeowners. Each and every committee is dedicated to serving the community of goose lake. Each and every one is crucial in keeping this area an exceptional place to live as well as ensures all members and homeowners can take full advantage of the many amenities and enjoy this beautiful area.   • The Audit Committee is composed of a minimum of three members in good standing, and is tasked with conducting an examination of the Association's financial statements. Following each audit, the Committee is responsible for presenting its findings to the GLA Board of Directors at the subsequent Board meeting.

    The main goal of our audit is to ensure the accuracy of the financial information and to recommend any required modifications to the Board. It is important to note that the scope of these audits is to provide interim financial oversight and they are not designed to replace other comprehensive audits that the Association may want to undertake.

  • The Beach Committees’ task is to ensure the safety, cleanliness, and enjoyment of our beach areas for all members and their families. We are dedicated to maintaining a welcoming and well-kept environment that promotes relaxation, recreation, and community engagement. Our goal is to foster a sense of pride and stewardship among members, encouraging everyone to contribute to the preservation and enhancement of our beautiful beach spaces.

  • The Boat Committee has the responsibility of measuring all watercraft making sure they meet the GLA requirements. This Committee will make recommendations to the board as to restrictions of watercraft as new watercraft models are manufactured.

  • The Budget Committee is decisively committed to exercising wise financial governance. We strive to sensibly allocate resources, enhance club initiatives, and enrich the collective journey of our GLA members. With careful strategy and oversight, we guarantee optimal use of every dollar, driving the vibrant and lively events that are the hallmark of our club. Our eternal mission is to preserve and elevate the standard of dedication and enjoyment for every GLA property owner and open member.

  • The By-Laws & Rules Committee is dedicated to preserving the core and objectives of our organization. We take pride in precisely crafting, upholding, and implementing the essential principles that steer the GLA association. Our pledge is to guarantee that these standards are simple, impartial, and mirror our collective principles, thus ensuring a structured and effective environment for discussion and initiative. By persistently evaluating and thoughtfully revising, we aim to align our regulations and bylaws with the changing demands and obstacles, thereby promoting openness, responsibility, and equity in every aspect of our work.

  • The Campground Committee's goal is to provide a safe, tranquil, and sustainable outdoor experience that fosters appreciation for nature and encourages community engagement. We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of environmentally friendly maintenance while offering access to the GLA beach, fishing, and limited boating which promotes health, well-being, and adventure for all ages.

  • The Communications Committee is poised to be an essential entity in promoting efficient and prompt communication within the GLA organization. We aim to ensure that interactions between the organization, property owners, and the wider membership are both clear and timely. Committed to refining communication channels, the committee strives to enhance transparency and forge stronger bonds between GLA officers, directors, property owners, and open members. Our objectives and goals are to bolster the presence of the GLA board among property owners through different communication outlets, including but not limited to an updated new website, texts, email blasts, Facebook, and the GLA newsletter. The committee is tasked with relaying updates as directed by the Director. Collaborating closely with the Director and other committees, it evaluates the communication needs to guarantee competent operations and maintain healthy communication with property owners.

  • The Dam Committee's job is to maintain the structural soundness and functional efficacy of our local dam. We are dedicated to consistent upkeep, thorough evaluations, and active community involvement to safeguard and improve the scenic splendor of our waterways. Our dedication to sustainable practices directs our actions to conserve this essential asset for future generations, harmonizing environmental care with our residents' requirements. In unity, we endeavor to maintain standard dam safety, ecological care, and civic duty.

  • The Election committees’ task is to ensure a fair, transparent, and inclusive process that empowers every eligible GLA property owner in good standings to participate in.

    We are committed to upholding the integrity of elections, fostering civic engagement, and promoting voting in our process every year. Through collaboration, innovation, and dedication, we strive to build a community where every GLA voice is heard and every vote counts.

  • Fish Committee oversees the acquisition of fish for restocking the four lakes under its purview. Based on JadEco Consulting's recommendations, the committee will procure fish, fish feed, and implement other related initiatives sanctioned by the Board and within the committee's budget.

    Additionally, the Fish Committee collaborates with the Weed Committee to identify and establish designated fish habitats.

  • The IT Committees’ task is to enhance the technological infrastructure and digital capabilities of our community.

    We are dedicated to providing reliable, secure, and innovative IT solutions that support the association’s goals and improve the overall member experience. Our focus is on ensuring seamless communication, efficient operations, and the protection of data privacy. We strive to stay ahead of technological advancements to better serve our members and foster a connected, informed, and engaged community.

  • The Maintenance Committees’ task is dedicated to ensuring the upkeep, safety, and functionality of all GLA owned properties and assets. Our job is to provide practical and efficient maintenance services, oversee repair projects, and work together with trusted vendors to enhance the quality and longevity of our facilities. We strive to create a well-maintained environment that supports the well-being and satisfaction of all the community members.

  • Personnel committee is a group of Board members who are responsible for overseeing the human resources policies and practices of the GLA organization. This will enable future board members a performance monitoring tool and process going forward.

    The committee's main functions are to

    • Review and approve the hiring, promotion, transfer, and termination of staff

    • Conduct the review of performance appraisals and recommend salary adjustments

    • Handle grievances and disciplinary issues

    • Provide feedback and suggestions to the Officers and board members on staff development and welfare

    • Organize training and orientation programs for new and existing staff

    • Promote a positive and respectful work environment

  • Safety Patrol Committee is tasked with overseeing the monitoring of lakes, particularly on days when traffic is expected to be high. They are responsible for coordinating patrols, either by committee members or through hired personnel, to ensure compliance with GLA and state lake usage regulations.

    The committee is also in charge of managing the maintenance and operation of the patrol boat, including reporting any extraordinary usage or necessary repairs to the Board. Additionally, the Chairperson, along with the committee, will conduct periodic assessments of lake traffic, taking into account the quantity, variety of all watercraft active on the lakes.

  • Shoreline Committee will work with homeowners prior to any work touching the water. This includes, but not limited to pier repair, installation of pier or shore station, adding sand or any material, removing material from the shoreline.

    An approved Permit is required before any work can be performed on homeowner property touching the water.

  • The Social Committees’ task at GLA is committed to creating memorable and enriching experiences for our young members. Our Kids Events are designed to be fun and provide opportunities for children to meet new friends and interact with their peers. We aim to create a safe space where children can explore and grow. Our committees aim is to foster a sense of belonging and community spirit. Join us in making every event a joyful and impactful experience for all our kids.

  • Volunteer Committee warmly invites community members to join our volunteer teams, contributing to the joyous children's holiday parties and engaging in various activities such as painting, minor repairs, and tree care, including trimming and removal.

  • Weed Committee will take charge of developing and managing its budget and implementing the well-devised organic weed control plan. This plan's execution depends on securing approval from the Board and complying with the rigorous environmental standards set by the Department of Conservation, the Illinois Fish and Wildlife Commission, and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.

    Working in tandem with the Fish Committee, the Weed Committee will safeguard specific areas to remain untreated to support fish habitats.

    The overall goal of the GLA Weed/Algae/Sediment Control Program will be to target problematic, invasive, and nuisance weeds early in the plants growing period. We aim to do this while striving to strike a healthy balance of preserving as much native plant growth as possible to maintain a healthy lake environment for excellent recreational capabilities and improved property values.

    Moreover, the Committee has the duty to proactively communicate with property owners and the community about any impending chemical treatments in their area.
